A Family Tradition of Piano Craftsmanship

Dublin Piano Tuner is built on a long-standing family tradition of piano making, tuning, and technical care.

My father, József Badi, has been a master piano maker and technician since 1995. His work has always been grounded in careful craftsmanship, respect for the instrument, and long-term reliability — values that shaped how I learned the trade.

In 2008, we established Piano Studio Kft together in Budapest. Over the following 18 years, the workshop grew into a respected piano business, tuning thousands of pianos, renovating and selling hundreds of instruments, and serving a wide range of private, institutional, and professional clients.

For many years, Piano Studio Kft was also the official piano tuning and technical partner of the Sziget Festival, supporting one of Europe's largest music festivals and working closely with artists, venues, and organisers.

Growing up around this environment, I — Attila Badi — continued the work professionally, developing the same careful, methodical approach to tuning and mechanical work.

In 2026, I decided to bring this experience to Ireland and establish Dublin Piano Tuner as an independent practice based in Dublin. While the business operates independently here, I continue to work with the ongoing technical supervision and occasional support of my father, ensuring the same standards that defined our work in Budapest.

Today, Dublin Piano Tuner offers careful, in-home piano tuning and maintenance in Dublin, shaped by decades of hands-on experience, patience, and respect for each instrument.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about piano tuning in Dublin

How often should a piano be tuned?

Most pianos benefit from tuning twice per year, typically in spring and autumn when temperature and humidity changes are most pronounced. Pianos in regular use, such as those in teaching studios or practice rooms, may require more frequent attention. A piano that is tuned regularly maintains its tone and responsiveness better over time.

What if my piano hasn't been tuned in years?

That's quite common. I'll assess the piano on arrival and explain what's needed before any additional work is carried out. Pianos that have gone years without tuning often require more time to stabilize, and in some cases, multiple tuning sessions may be recommended. Most piano tunings take 60–90 minutes, depending on the instrument's condition.

Do you tune newly moved pianos?

Yes. Pianos should ideally be tuned 2–4 weeks after being moved to allow the instrument to acclimatize to its new environment. Temperature and humidity changes during transport can affect tuning stability, so waiting allows the piano to settle before tuning work begins.

Do you tune both upright and grand pianos?

Yes. I tune upright and grand pianos used in homes, studios, schools, and teaching spaces across Dublin.

Do I need to prepare anything before the appointment?

Just ensure there is clear access to the piano and a quiet working environment during the tuning. For upright pianos, access to the back is helpful but not always necessary. The work requires concentration, so a calm space is appreciated.
